Working together
How I work
I provide counselling for adults and young people aged fourteen and over who are facing life’s challenges, whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, disconnected or just seeking more balance and clarity.
Being an integrative counsellor means I can adapt my approach to what feels most helpful for you, drawing on different therapeutic styles to suit your unique needs. You are always in control of the process and we will only work in ways that feel comfortable and supportive for you.
Above all, I aim to create a safe, supportive space where you can be yourself, feel accepted and take things at your own pace.
What to expect
-
I offer a free 20-minute online consultation, which gives us a chance to meet, talk about what brings you to counselling and see if working together feels right for you. We can also discuss your availability and if you’d like to go ahead, I’ll confirm your first appointment with you.
-
Starting counselling can feel like a big step and my priority in our first session is to help you feel safe, heard and truly listened to. This is your space to begin sharing what has brought you to counselling, at a pace that feels right for you.
During our time together, I’ll go through my assessment form with you, which helps me understand your needs and how best I can support you. We’ll also review and sign the counselling contract so that everything is clear and we’re both comfortable moving forward.
Most importantly, the first session is about building trust and giving you the opportunity to get a feel for how I work, so that together we can decide the best way to continue.
-
Each session provides a confidential, non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences. The pace and focus are always led by you.
Sessions usually take place weekly, but we can discuss what works best for you. Together, we’ll regularly check in on how things are going and adapt the work to your needs.
-
It’s common to leave a session feeling lighter, thoughtful, or even a little tired — these are all normal responses to the process of talking things through.
At times, counselling can also feel tough as exploring difficult emotions and experiences isn’t always easy. This is a natural and important part of the process and I’ll support you through it at a pace that feels safe for you.
Where I work
I offer sessions in person from a dedicated counselling room in my home in Wincheap, Canterbury. It’s a quiet, private space designed to feel safe and welcoming, where you can talk openly without distraction. There is parking available and access to a toilet for your convenience.
If you prefer, I also offer online sessions via a secure video platform, giving you the flexibility to access counselling wherever you are.
